The Maitogai (マイトガイ / dynamite guy ) joined Nikkatsu Studios in 1956 at age 19.
During the 60’s, he appeared in a succession of minor roles. Later the “wataridori” series gave his carrer a boost. The young elvis, known for his relationships with the pop diva Hibari Misora & the actress Ruriko Asaoka was now a hot talent.
After leaving Nikkatsu in the 70’s (he didn’t want to appear in pink eigas), Kobayashi concentrated on establishing himself as a popular Enka singer.
