Birth Place : Tokyo
Sales studies at Meiji University of Tokyo.
In 1952, he was hired at NTB tv channel.
In 1959, he become producer of the Third Samurai series on Fuji TV. Shochiku Studio wanted him to adapt it into movie. It will be his first movie & success : Sanbiki no samurai (1964).
Some of the greatest chambara movies ever (tenchu…) & yakuza (Boryokugai !!) will follow.
