Masahiro Makino

Almost unknown in the west, Makino directed more than 230 films, primarily in the chanbara and ninkyo genre. He was best known for his shooting technique, which was marked by slow-moving sentimental sequences followed by rapid-fire action. The Nippon Chivalry series with Ken Takakura was one of his greatest success.
